DTC Troubleshooting: 3-4

DTC 3-4:  Short to Power in Left Side Seat Belt Tensioner


Special Tools Required
SRS inflator simulator (  07SAZ-TB4011A)
 

SRS simulator lead F (  07XAZ-SZ30100)
 



1.Erase the DTC memory.

2.Turn the ignition switch ON (II), and check that the SRS indicator comes on for about 6 seconds and then goes off.

Does the SRS indicator stay on?


YES - Go to 3.


NO - Intermittent failure, system is OK at this time. Go to Troubleshooting Intermittent Failures.


3.Turn the ignition switch OFF. Disconnect the battery negative cable, and wait for 3 minutes.

4.Disconnect the TL1o connector from the TL1i connector (A).

 

5.Connect the special tool (2 W connector) to the TL1i connector (A).

6.Reconnect the battery negative cable.

7.Erase the DTC memory.

8.Read the DTC.

Is DTC 3-4 indicated?


YES - Go to 9.


NO - Short to power in the left side seat belt tensioner; replace the left side seat belt.n


9.Disconnect the battery negative cable, and wait for 3 minutes.

10.Disconnect the TR1o connector (A) from the TR1i connector (B).

 

11.Disconnect the U2o connector (A) from the SRS unit.

 

12.Disconnect the SRS inflator simulator (special tool) from the SRS simulator lead C.

13.Reconnect the battery negative cable.

14.Turn the ignition switch ON (ll).

15. Check for voltage between the A terminal of the SRS simulator lead C (special tool) and body ground, between the B terminal and body ground, between the C terminal and body ground, and between the D terminal and body ground. There should be 0.5 V or less.

 

Is the voltage as specified?


YES - Faulty  SRS unit; replace the SRS unit.n


NO - Short to power in the floor wire harness; replace the floor wire harness.n
