DTC Troubleshooting: 12-3

DTC 12-3:  Short to Another Wire or Decreased Resistance in Front Passenger's Side Airbag Inflator


Special Tools Required
SRS inflator simulator (  07SAZ-TB4011A)
 

SRS simulator lead E (  07XAZ-S1A0200)
 



1.Erase the DTC memory.

2.Turn the ignition switch ON (II), and check that the SRS indicator comes on for about 6 seconds and then goes off.

Does the SRS indicator stay on?


YES - Go to 3.


NO - Intermittent failure, system is OK at this time. Go to Troubleshooting Intermittent Failures.


3.Turn the ignition switch OFF. Disconnect the battery negative cable, and wait for 3 minutes.

4.Disconnect the SPo connector from the SPi connector (A).

 

5.Connect the special tool (2 W connector) to the SPi connector (A).

6.Reconnect the battery negative cable.

7.Erase the DTC memory.

8.Disconnect the battery negative cable, and wait for 3 minutes.

9.Disconnect the TL1o and TR1o connectors (A) from the TL1i and TR1i connectors (B).

 

10.Disconnect the U2o connector (A) from the SRS unit.

 

11.Disconnect the SRS inflator simulator (special tool) from the SRS simulator lead C.

12.Install the special tool (070AZ-SAA0100) to No. 23 and No. 24 terminals of U2o connector.

13.Check resistance between the A and B terminals of the SRS simulator lead C (special tool). There should be 1 MW or more.

 

Is the resistance as specified?


YES - Replace the SRS unit .n


NO - Replace the floor wire harness.n
