Entry Light Control Circuit Input Test

Entry Light Control Circuit Input Test

1.Remove the gauge assembly.

2.Disconnect the 20P connector (A) and 30P connector (B) from the gauge assembly (C).

3.Inspect the connector and socket terminals to be sure they are all making good contact.

  • If the terminals are bent, loose or corroded, repair them as necessary, and recheck the system.
  • If the terminals look OK, go to 5.

4.With the connector still disconnected, make these input tests at the connector.

  • If any test indicates a problem, find and correct the cause, then recheck the system.
  • If all the input tests prove OK, go to 5.

Cavity Wire Test condition Test: Desired result Possible cause if result is not obtained
A9 BLK Under all conditions Check for continuity to ground:
There should be continuity.
  • Poor ground (G401)
  • An open in the wire

A11
A1 WHT/RED Under all conditions Check for voltage to ground:
There should be battery voltage.
  • Blown No.8 (15 A) fuse in the under-hood fuse/relay box
  • An open in the wire

A2 YEL ignition switch ON (ll) Check for voltage to ground:
There should be battery voltage.
  • Blown No. 16 (7.5 A) fuse in the under-hood fuse/relay box
  • An open in the wire

A12 GRN/RED Ceiling light switch in middle position. Attach to ground:
The ceiling light should come on.
  • Blown No. 8 (15 A) fuse in the under-hood fuse/relay box
  • Faulty ceiling light
  • An open in the wire

C12 BLU/ORN Under all conditions Check for continuity between the C12 terminal and keyless receiver unit 5P connector No.2 terminal:
There should be continuity.
  • An open in the wire

5.Reconnect the connectors to the gauge assembly, and make sure these input tests at the appropriate connectors on the gauge assembly.

  • If any test indicates a problem, find and correct the cause, then recheck the system.
  • If all the input tests prove OK, the gauge internal circuit must be faulty; replace the gauge assembly.
