Special Tools Required Start clutch remover ( 07TAE-P4V0120)
Reverse brake spring compressor ( 07TAE-P4V0110)
NOTE: Refer to the Exploded View as needed during disassembling the transmission.
Remove the ATF cooler lines.
Remove the ATF dipstick guide pipe.
Remove the CVT drive pulley speed sensor.
Remove the inhibitor solenoid.
Remove the transmission range switch, CVT speed sensor, and CVT driven pulley speed sensor.
Remove the control valve body, and remove the ATF pipes, dowel pins a and gasket.
Remove the 21 bolts securing the flywheel housing, then remove the flywheel housing, dowel pins, and gasket.
Remove the ATF pipes:
11 x 230.5 mm (with O-rings):
11 x 134.5 mm (with O-rings):
8 x 133.5 mm: two pipes
Remove the differential assembly.
Remove the final drive shaft, then remove the secondary driven gear.
Remove the park pawl shaft and sleeve, then remove the park pawl spring and pawl.
Remove the snap ring securing the start clutch, then remove the cotter retainer and cotters.
Set the special tool on the start clutch (A), and attach the pawl (B) of the special tool to the park gear (C) securely. Do not place the pawl of the special tool on the start clutch guide. If the pawl contacts the start clutch guide, the clutch guide may be damaged. Be sure not to allow dust and other foreign particles to enter into the driven pulley shaft.
Remove the start clutch (A) and secondary drive/park gear (B) with the special tool.
Remove the snap ring (A) securing the input shaft (B), then remove the thrust shim (C), thrust washer (D), thrust needle bearing (E), and thrust washer (F) from the input shaft.
Remove the secondary drive/park gear from the start clutch.
Remove the sealing ring (A) from the secondary drive/park gear (B), and clean it; it is reinstall on the new secondary drive/park gear when assembling the transmission.
Remove the ATF magnet, then clean it, and reinstall it in the transmission.
Remove the snap ring securing the ATF filter, and remove the ATF filter. Check the ATF filter for contamination. If the ATF filter is excessively contaminated, replace it. Reinstall the ATF filter in the transmission.
Turn the transmission end cover upside, and place it such as a workbench to prevent damaging to the input shaft.
Remove the 15 bolts (A) securing the end cover, then remove the end cover (B), dowel pins (C), and gasket (D).
Remove the ATF pipes (E) from the manual valve body (F).
Remove the manual valve body, detent spring (G), dowel pins (H), and separator plate (I).
Remove the planetary carrier/input shaft assembly (A), then remove the ring gear (B).
Remove the reverse brake snap ring (C), then remove the reverse brake end plate (D), brake discs (E), brake plates (F), and disc spring (G).
Remove the snap ring (H) securing the forward clutch end plate (I), then remove the forward clutch end plate, discs (J) and plates (K).
Remove the snap ring (L) securing the forward clutch (M) to the drive pulley shaft (N), then remove the forward clutch, and remove the snap ring retainer (O).
Install the special tool to remove the snap ring securing the reverse brake return spring retainer.
Compress the return spring with the special tool, then remove the snap ring. Be sure the special tool set over the reverse brake return spring.
Remove the special tool, then remove the spring retainer/return spring assembly.
Remove the sealing bolt (A) from the reverse brake pressure inspection hole (B), and apply air pressure to remove the reverse brake piston (C).
Reinstall the sealing bolt with the new sealing washer (D). Do not reuse the sealing washer.
Remove the roller (A).
Remove the intermediate housing (B), dowel pins (C), and gasket (D).
Inspect the reverse brake disc, plates, and end plate for wear, damage, and discoloration.
If the discs are worn or damaged, replace the discs as a set.
If the plates are worn, damaged, or discolored, replace the plates as a set.
If the end plate is worn, damaged, or discolored, replace the end plate with inspecting the end plate-to-top disc clearance when assembling the transmission.
