DTC Troubleshooting: 1-1

DTC 1-1:  Open or Increased Resistance in Driver's Airbag Inflator


Special Tools Required
SRS inflator simulator (  07SAZ-TB4011A)
 

SRS simulator lead C (  07TAZ-SZ5011A)
 



1.Erase the DTC memory.

2.Turn the ignition switch ON (II), and check that the SRS indicator comes on for about 6 seconds and then goes off.

Does the SRS indicator stay on?


YES - Go to 3.


NO - Intermittent failure, system is OK at this time. Go to Troubleshooting Intermittent Failures.


3.Turn the ignition switch OFF. Disconnect the battery negative cable, and wait for 3 minutes.

4.Disconnect the D1o connector from the D1i connector (A).

 

5.Connect the special tool (2 W connector) to the D1i connector (A).

6.Reconnect the battery negative cable.

7.Erase the DTC memory.

8.Read the DTC.

Is DTC 1-1 indicated?


YES - Go to 9.


NO - Open or increased resistance in the driver's airbag inflator; replace the driver's airbag.n


9.Disconnect the battery negative cable, and wait for 3 minutes.

10.Disconnect the U1o connector (A) from the SRS unit.

 

11.Disconnect the SRS inflator simulator (special tool) from the SRS simulator lead C.

12.Check resistance between the A and B terminals of the SRS simulator lead C (special tool). There should be 1.0 W or less.

 

Is the resistance as specified?


YES - Faulty  SRS unit or poor contact at the U1o connector and the SRS unit, check the connection between the U1o connector and the SRS unit. If the connection is OK, replace the SRS unit.n


NO - Go to 13.

13.Disconnect D2i connector (A) from the D2o connector (B).

 

14.Check resistance between the No. 3 and the No. 4 terminals of the D2i connector. There should be 1.0 W or less.

 

Is the resistance as specified?


YES - Replace the cable reel.n


NO - Open or increased resistance in the dashboard wire harness; replace the dashboard wire harness.n
