D Indicator Circuit Troubleshooting (CVT)

D Indicator Circuit Troubleshooting

[D] Indicator Comes On and Stays On

1.Check whether the Honda PGM Tester is connected to the Data Link Connector (DLC) and selected SCS mode.

Is the Honda PGM Tester connected to the DLC and selected SCS mode?

YES - Disconnect the Honda PGM Tester from the DLC, and recheck the [D] indicator.

NO - Go to 2.

2.Turn the ignition switch OFF.

3.Check for continuity between DLC terminal No. 9 and body ground.

Is there continuity?

YES - Repair short to ground in the SCS wire between PCM connector terminal E29 and DLC terminal No. 9.n

NO - Go to 4.

4.Disconnect gauge assembly connector B (14P).

5.Connect the digital multitester between PCM connector terminal E11 and body ground.

6.Turn the ignition switch ON (II), and check for the voltage.

Is there battery voltage for at least 2 seconds?

YES - Go to 7.

NO - Go to 10.

7.Turn the ignition switch OFF.

8.Connect the digital multitester between gauge assembly connector terminal B9 and body ground.

9.Turn the ignition switch ON (II), and check for the voltage.

Is there battery voltage for at least 2 seconds?

YES - Faulty the [D] indicator circuit in the gauge assembly, replace the gauge assembly.n

NO - Repair open in the D IND wire between PCM connector terminal E11 and gauge assembly connector.n

10.Turn the ignition switch OFF.

11.Check for continuity between PCM connector terminal E11 and body ground.

Is there continuity?

YES - Repair short in the D IND wire between PCM connector terminal E11 and gauge assembly connector.n

NO - Check for loose terminal fit in the PCM connectors. If necessary, substitute a known-good  PCM and recheck.n

[D] Indicator Never Comes On

4.Disconnect the battery negative terminal.

5.Disconnect PCM connector E (31P).

6.Reconnect the battery negative terminal.

7.Turn the ignition switch ON (II), and check the [D] indicator.

Does the [D] indicator come on for 2 seconds after the ignition switch turned ON (II)?

YES - Repair short to power in the D IND wire between PCM connector terminal E11 and the gauge assembly connector.n

NO - Check for loose terminal fit in the PCM and gauge assembly connectors. If necessary, substitute a know-good gauge assembly or  PCM and recheck.n
