DTC P0327: | Knock Sensor Circuit Low Input |
1. | Record the following freeze data.

2. | Do the DTC CLEAR in the CLEAR MENU with the HDS. |
3. | Start the engine. Hold the engine speed at 3,000 rpm (min-1) with no load (in neutral) until the radiator fan comes on, then let it idle. |
4. | Test-drive the vehicle for several minutes in the range of the recorded freeze data. |
5. | Monitor the OBD STATUS for DTC P0327 in the DTCs MENU with the HDS. Is it FAILED? YES - Go to 6. NO - If it is PASSED, intermittent failure, system is OK at this time. Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the knock sensor and the ECM. If it is NOT COMPLETED, go to 3 and recheck. |
6. | Turn the ignition switch OFF, and wait 10 seconds. |
7. | Disconnect the knock sensor 2P connector. |
8. | Disconnect ECM connector No. 3 (52P). |
9. | Check for continuity between knock sensor 2P connector terminal No. 2 and body ground.
Is there continuity? YES - Repair short in the wire between the ECM connector No. 3 terminal No. 40 (test pin box terminal No. 69) and the knock sensor, then go to 20. NO - Go to 10. |
10. | Connect the knock sensor 2P connector terminal No. 2 to body ground with a jumper wire.

11. | Connect the ECM test harness and the test pin box to the wire harness only, not to the ECM. |
12. | Check for continuity between test pin box terminal No. 69 and body ground. Is there continuity? YES - Go to 13. NO - Repair open in the wire between the ECM connector No. 3 terminal No. 40 (test pin box terminal No. 69) and the knock sensor, then go to 20. |
13. | Check for continuity between knock sensor 2P connector terminal No. 1 and body ground.
Is there continuity? YES - Repair short in the wire between the ECM connector No. 3 terminal No. 41 (test pin box terminal No. 70) and the knock sensor, then go to 20. NO - Go to 14. |
14. | Connect the knock sensor 2P connector terminal No. 1 to body ground with a jumper wire.

15. | Check for continuity between test pin box terminal No. 70 and body ground. Is there continuity? YES - Go to 16. NO - Repair open in the wire between the ECM connector No. 3 terminal No. 41 (test pin box terminal No. 70) and the knock sensor, then go to 20. |
16. | Remove the jumper wire from the knock sensor. |
17. | Check for continuity between test pin box terminals No. 69 and No. 70. Is there continuity? YES - Repair short in the wire between the ECM connector No. 3 terminal No. 40 (test pin box terminal No. 69) and the ECM connector No. 3 terminal No. 41 (test pin box terminal No. 70), then go to 20. NO - Go to 18. |
18. | At the knock sensor side, check for continuity between knock sensor 2P connector terminals No. 1 and No. 2.
Is there continuity? YES - Go to 19. NO - Go to 28. |
19. | Replace the knock sensor. |
20. | Reconnect all connectors. |
21. | Turn the ignition switch ON (II). |
22. | Do the ECM RESET in the CLEAR MENU with the HDS. |
23. | Do the ETCS learn procedure. |
24. | Start the engine. Hold the engine speed at 3,000 rpm (min-1) with no load (in neutral) until the radiator fan comes on, then let it idle. |
25. | Test-drive the vehicle for several minutes in the range of the recorded freeze data. |
26. | Check for Temporary DTCs or DTCs in the DTCs MENU with the HDS. Are any Temporary DTCs or DTCs indicated? YES - If DTC P0327 is indicated, check for poor connections or loose terminals at the knock sensor and the ECM, then go to 1. If any other Temporary DTCs or DTCs are indicated, go to the indicated DTC troubleshooting. NO - Go to 27. |
27. | Monitor the OBD STATUS for DTC P0327 in the DTCs MENU with the HDS. Is it PASSED? YES - Troubleshooting is complete.n NO - If it is FAILED, then go to 1 and recheck. If it is NOT COMPLETED, go to 24 and recheck. |
28. | Substitute a known-good ECM. |
29. | Start the engine. Hold the engine speed at 3,000 rpm (min-1) with no load (in neutral) until the radiator fan comes on, then let it idle. |
30. | Test-drive the vehicle for several minutes in the range of the recorded freeze data. |
31. | Check for Temporary DTCs or DTCs in the DTCs MENU with the HDS. Are any Temporary DTCs or DTCs indicated? YES - If DTC P0327 is indicated, check for poor connections or loose terminals at the knock sensor and the ECM, then go to 1. If any other Temporary DTCs or DTCs are indicated, go to the indicated DTC troubleshooting. |
