DTC P0351:  No. 1 Cylinder Front Ignition Coil Circuit Malfunction
  
  
DTC P0353:  No. 2 Cylinder Front Ignition Coil Circuit Malfunction
  
  
DTC P0355:  No. 3 Cylinder Front Ignition Coil Circuit Malfunction
  
  
DTC P0357:  No. 4 Cylinder Front Ignition Coil Circuit Malfunction
  
  


1.Turn the ignition switch ON (II).

2.Do the DTC CLEAR in the CLEAR MENU with the HDS.

3.Start the engine. Hold the engine speed at 3,000 rpm (min-1) with no load (in neutral) for 5 seconds.

4.Check for Temporary DTCs or DTCs in the DTCs MENU with the HDS.

Is DTC P0351, P0352, P0353 P0354 P0355, P0356, P0357 and/or P0358 indicated?


YES - Go to 5.


NO - Intermittent failure, system is OK at this time. Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the ignition coil and the ECM.n


5.Turn the ignition switch OFF.

6.Disconnect the ignition coil 3P connector from the problem cylinder.

7.Check for continuity between the ignition coil 3P connector terminal No. 2 and body ground (see table).

 

Front side ignition coil:

Is there continuity?


YES - Go to 8.


NO - Repair open in the wire between the ignition coil and G101, then go to 14.

8.Connect the ECM test harness and the test pin box to the wire harness only, not to the ECM.

9.Check for continuity between body ground and test pin box terminal (see table).

Is there continuity?


YES - Repair short in the wire between the ECM connector terminal and the ignition coil, then go to 14.


NO - Go to 10.

10.Connect the ignition coil 3P connector terminal No. 1 to body ground with a jumper wire.

 

11.Check for continuity between body ground and test pin box terminal (see table).

Is there continuity?


YES - Go to 12.


NO - Repair open in the wire between the ECM connector terminal and the ignition coil, then go to 14.


12.Do the ignition coil troubleshooting.

Is the result OK?


YES - Go to 20.


NO - Go to 13.

13.Replace the ignition coil.

14.Reconnect all connectors.

15.Turn the ignition switch ON (II).

16.Do the ECM RESET in the CLEAR MENU with the HDS.

17.Do the ETCS learn procedure.

18.Start the engine. Hold the engine speed at 3,000 rpm (min-1) with no load (in neutral) for 5 seconds.

19.Check for Temporary DTCs or DTCs in the DTCs MENU with the HDS.

Are any Temporary DTCs or DTCs indicated?


YES - If DTC P0351, P0352, P0353, P0354, P0355, P0356, P0357 and/or P0358 is indicated, check for poor connections or loose terminals at the ignition coil and the ECM, then go to 1. If any other Temporary DTCs or DTCs are indicated, go to the indicated DTC troubleshooting.


NO - Troubleshooting is complete.n


20.Substitute a known-good ECM.

21.Start the engine. Hold the engine speed at 3,000 rpm (min-1) with no load (in neutral) for 5 seconds.

22.Check for Temporary DTCs or DTCs in the DTCs MENU with the HDS.

Are any Temporary DTCs or DTCs indicated?


YES - If DTC P0351, P0352, P0353, P0354, P0355, P0356, P0357 and/or P0358 is indicated, check for poor connections or loose terminals at the ignition coil and the ECM, then go to 1. If any other Temporary DTCs or DTCs are indicated, go to the indicated DTC troubleshooting.


NO - Replace the original ECM.n
