DTC Troubleshooting: 23-3

DTC 23-3:  Short to Another Wire or Decreased Resistance in Left Side Seat Belt Outer Lap Tensioner


Special Tools Required
SRS inflator simulator (  07SAZ-TB4011A)
 

SRS simulator lead E (  07XAZ-S1A0200)
 



1.Erase the DTC memory.

2.Turn the ignition switch ON (II), and check that the SRS indicator comes on for about 6 seconds and then goes off.

Does the SRS indicator stay on?


YES - Go to 3.


NO - Intermittent failure, system is OK at this time. Go to Troubleshooting Intermittent Failures.n


3.Turn the ignition switch OFF. Disconnect the battery negative cable, and wait for 3 minutes.

4.Disconnect the TBL1o connector from the TBL1i connector (A).

 

5.Connect the special tool (2 W connector) to the TBL1i connector.

6.Reconnect the battery negative cable.

7.Erase the DTC memory.

8.Read the DTC.

Is DTC 23-3 indicated?


YES - Go to 9.


NO - Short in the left side seat belt outer lap tensioner; replace the left side seat belt.n


9.Disconnect the battery negative cable, and wait for 3 minutes.

10.Disconnect the both seat belt tensioner 4P connectors from the floor wire harness 4P connectors.

11.Disconnect the TBR1o connector (A) from the TBR1i connector (B).

 

12.Disconnect the U2o connector (A) from the SRS unit.

 

13.Disconnect the SRS inflator simulator (special tool) from the SRS simulator lead E.

14.Check resistance between the terminals of the SRS simulator lead E. There should be an open circuit, or at least 1 MW.

 

Is the resistance as specified?


YES - Faulty SRS unit; replace the SRS unit.n


NO - Short in the floor wire harness; replace the floor wire harness.n
