DTC Troubleshooting: G

DTC Troubleshooting: G

DTC indicator G:  An Open in the Evaporator Temperature Sensor Circuit

1.Clear the DTC by turning the ignition switch OFF, and then ON (II).

2.Operate the climate control system in several modes.

3.Check for DTCs using the self-diagnostic.

Is DTC G indicated?

YES - Go to 4.

NO - Intermittent failure, check for loose wires or poor connections on the evaporator temperature sensor circuit.n

4.Turn the ignition switch OFF.

5.Test the evaporator temperature sensor.

Does the evaporator temperature sensor test OK?

YES - Go to 6.

NO - Replace the evaporator temperature sensor.n

6.Disconnect climate control unit 28P connector.

7.Check for continuity between the No. 21 (with ETCS) or No. 22 (without ETCS) terminal of climate control unit 28P connector and the No. 1 terminal of the evaporator temperature sensor 2P connector.

With ETCS

Without ETCS

Is there continuity?

YES -

  • With ETCS: Go to 10.
  • Without ETCS: Go to 8.

NO - Repair open in the wire between the climate control unit and the evaporator temperature sensor.n

8.Disconnect PCM connector E (31P).

9.Check for continuity between the No. 12 terminal of PCM connector E (31P) and the No. 1 terminal of the evaporator temperature sensor 2P connector.

Is there continuity?

YES - Go to 10.

NO - Repair open in the wire between the PCM and the evaporator temperature sensor.n

10.Check for continuity between the No. 18 terminal of climate control unit 28P connector (with ETCS) or No. 4 terminal of PCM connector E (31P) (without ETCS) and the No. 2 terminal of the evaporator temperature sensor 2P connector.

With ETCS

Without ETCS

Is there continuity?

YES - Check for loose wire or poor connections at climate control unit 28P connector (with ETCS), PCM connector E (31P) (without ETCS) and at the evaporator temperature sensor 2P connector. If the connections are good, substitute a known-good climate control unit (with ETCS) or PCM (without ETCS), and recheck. If the symptom/indication goes away, replace the original  climate control unit (with ETCS) or  PCM (without ETCS).n

NO - Repair open in the wire between the climate control unit (with ETCS) or PCM (without ETCS) and the evaporator temperature sensor.n
