DTC Troubleshooting: I

DTC indicator I:  An Open in the Air Mix Control Motor Circuit


1.Clear the DTC by turning the ignition switch OFF, and then ON (II).

2.Operate the climate control system in several modes.

3.Check for DTCs using the self-diagnostic.

Is DTC I indicated?


YES - Go to 4.


NO - Intermittent failure, check for loose wires or poor connections on the air mix control motor circuit.n


4.Turn the ignition switch OFF.

5.Test the air mix control motor.

Is the air mix control motor OK?


YES - Go to 6.


NO - Replace the air mix control motor.n


6.Disconnect the air mix control motor 7P connector.

7.Disconnect climate control unit 28P connector.

8.Check for continuity between following terminals of climate control unit 28P connector and the air mix control motor 7P connector.

No. 9 No. 1 
No. 10 No. 2 
No. 15 No. 5 

No. 18 No. 7 
No. 23 No. 3 

 

Is there continuity?


YES - Check for loose wire or poor connections at climate control unit 28P connector and at the air mix control motor 7P connector. If the connections are good, substitute a known-good climate control unit and recheck. If the symptom/indication goes away, replace the original  climate control unit.n


NO - Repair any open in the wire(s) between the climate control unit and the air mix control motor.n
