DTC 1-5: | Short to Ground in Driver's Airbag Inflator |
Special Tools Required
SRS inflator simulator ( 07SAZ-TB4011A)
1. | Erase the DTC memory. |
2. | Turn the ignition switch ON (II), and check that the SRS indicator comes on for about 6 seconds and then goes off. Does the SRS indicator stay on? YES - Go to 3. NO - Intermittent failure, system is OK at this time. Go to Troubleshooting Intermittent Failures. |
3. | Turn the ignition switch OFF. Disconnect the battery negative cable, and wait for 3 minutes. |
4. | Disconnect the D1i connector from the D1o connector (A).

5. | Connect the special tool (2 W connector) to the D1o connector (A). |
6. | Reconnect the battery negative cable. |
7. | Erase the DTC memory. |
8. | Read the DTC. Is DTC 1-5 indicated? YES - Go to 9. NO - Short to ground in the driver's airbag inflator; replace the driver's airbag.n |
9. | Disconnect the battery negative cable, and wait for 3 minutes. |
10. | Disconnect the U1o connector (A) from the SRS unit. Do not disconnect SRS simulator lead F from cable reel 4P connector.

11. | Disconnect the SRS inflator simulator (special tool) from the SRS simulator lead F. |
12. | Check for resistance between each terminal of SRS simulator lead F and body ground. There should be 1 MW or more.
Is the resistance as specified? YES - Faulty SRS unit; replace the SRS unit.n NO - Go to 13. |
13. | Disconnect D2o connector (A) from the D2i connector (B).

14. | Check for resistance between each terminal of SRS simulator lead F and body ground. There should be 1 MW or more.
Is the resistance as specified? YES - Replace the dashboard wire harness.n NO - Replace the cable reel.n |
